I could barely manage a smile, never mind a chuckle. It just wasn"t funny. While the Bavarian company has its strong points, comedy isn"t one of them.

Ten thousand drivers of cars likely to be targeted by criminals are to get a í‚á£5 Halfords voucher towards the cost of security equipment. The Gloucestershire Police initiative is intended to combat the current level of theft, which stands at more than three vehicles a day. A police spokesman said: "A lot of these crimes are avoidable if people take the necessary care."

Top of the bill was the XC90 V8, which was sporting striking yellow paint instead of its previous red finish. The V8 Power Utility Vehicle produces 650bhp from its 4.4-litre supercharged unit.
