These are the first official pictures of the sporting newcomer, which makes its world debut in Switzerland alongside the acclaimed Kabura coupé concept. Following the recently launched 6MPS, with which it shares its 2.3-litre turbocharged engine, the front-wheel-drive 240bhp machine is expected to be the most powerful performance family car on the market when it goes on sale later this year. It also heralds the arrival of a facelifted Mazda 3 range, due this summer.
The flagship 3MPS will have a six-speed gearbox and be capable of nearly 150mph. The 0-60mph time is likely to set a new class standard at a little over six seconds. With big wheels, aerodynamic spoilers and a huge exhaust, the newcomer will be instantly recognisable over the standard Mazda 3. The price will be around ÷£16,000.
