Scrapped Volvos are being sought by green energy fans... because the parts are perfect for wind turbines! Hubs, bearings and disc brakes from old 120 and 240 models generate more power than shop-bought kits, and cost a fraction of the price, so are ideal building materials. "It"s nice to know the longest-lasting components are still useful," said a Volvo spokesman.
The supermini comes...
The supermini comes with stickers, metallic paint and 14-inch alloys, plus new interior trim, air-con, Bluetooth and split-folding rear seats. It’s based on the 1.2-litre Dynamic but, at ?7,195, works out ?400 cheaper.
The Grande Punto gets a similar treatment, with ?1,700 worth of extra kit, including 15-inch alloys, body-coloured mirrors and Fiat’s Blue&Me hands-free phone system. Prices range from ?8,495 to ?9,095 – but the specials are available only until the end of December.
