It also found UK road users don"t only judge people by the vehicle they"re in. If someone is good looking, they are much more likely to be given space to pull out at a busy junction.

The price is for the entry-level 120bhp 1.6-litre Sport model when it arrives next month.

Standard kit on the drop-top includes alloy wheels, air-conditioning, five airbags and active roll bars which pop up in the event of a rollover. The base petrol engine is also available with a four-speed Tiptronic-style sequential auto, instead of the standard five-speed manual, for an extra ÷£1,000.

Two more engine options are on offer - the turbocharged 150bhp 1.6-litre unit from the 207 GT hatch and Peugeot"s 110bhp 1.6-litre HDi diesel, priced at ÷£16,895 and ÷£15,895 respectively.
