The Mitsubishi Evo just...
The Mitsubishi Evo just got more extreme. While the new Evo X won"t go on sale until early 2008, the firm has confirmed that the Evo IX MR will arrive in the UK in January.
The new product is TRACKER...
The new product is TRACKER Response, a combination of GPS, VHF and GSM technologies to keep a real-time track of your car at all times. The owner can view this from the website, and this monitoring power enables Tracker to offer a few clever wrinkles too.
The first is that the system can notify you immediately if your car moves and you"re not in it! It can also alert you if it exceeds a certain speed, which is handy if relatives (or mechanics) are abusing your pride and joy.
The GPS embedded in the system means it can also provide a ersatz sat-nav service, planning routes and avoiding traffic blackspots.
The Response unit also stores details on every journey of the past 6 months, giving you precise mileage reports. A potentially useful tool for claiming business travel expenses.
Finally, the system also features driver validation (as seen on Jaguar"s new security system too). If your keys are stolen - the most likely way for thieves to get into your car nowadays - the security system is still triggered if they don"t also have the electronic tag that uniquely identifies the owner.
The price cuts are welcome, as many drivers have been put off by hefty set-up costs for tracker systems in the past. TRACKER Monitor drops from ÷£299 to ÷£219, TRACKER Horizon has been slashed down from ÷£499 to ÷£299, while the new Response system replaces it at the ÷£499 mark.
