The future face of Formula...

The future face of Formula One moved a step closer to being decided in the US – but it doesn’t go far enough, according to Renault boss Flavio Briatore.

The latest deal, which the major car maker-owned teams have signed up to, freezes development to the engine block for four years. Other parts can be modified during the off-season. The idea is to cut costs.

But Briatore stormed: “I don’t understand why we have been talking only about engines. We have to look at entertainment. We produce the most expensive cars for the most boring event.” The FIA is keen for the engine freeze to come into effect in 2007 rather than 2008. But the teams are against this.
