Presenter Jeremy Vine...
Presenter Jeremy Vine asked me on air if it"s ethically and morally acceptable for a motorist with nine points on their licence to allow a friend to take the rap for their latest speeding misdemeanour. As far as I"m concerned, ethics and morality are important, but not as much as the fact that drivers can and do go to jail for deception.
The Tesco Car Insurance...
The Tesco Car Insurance Checkout, a quarterly survey of 33 different insurers, showed that drivers in London pay an average annual premium for comprehensive cover of ÷£563, and in the North West ÷£542, compared to the cheapest average, in East Anglia of just ÷£329. The national average is ÷£442.
A spokesman for Tesco Car Insurance said: "Unfortunately for motorists in the North West and London, high claim rates, car crime and sheer volume of traffic are forcing insurers to push up premiums in these highly urban areas."
The good news for drivers in the most expensive areas is that savings are still there - if you"re female (10% cheaper than men), or just do some research. In London the difference between the best and worst quote for the same sample policy was a staggering ÷£214.
