These exclusive top-secret sketches are from the firm"s design team, and are part of the project to replace the ageing 9-5. According to sources, they are the last work of ex-styling chief Michael Mauer and were finished days before he defected to Porsche in April. The images reveal three versions of the new 9-5 - a saloon, estate and a four-door hatchback supercar.

Making its debut at next March"s Geneva Motor Show, the roadster will have a fully automatic folding fabric roof - unlike the drop-top Murci탩lago. The newcomer"s electro-hydraulic hood retracts neatly at the touch of a button, and sits beneath a flush-fitting cover on the Spyder"s slightly redesigned rear end. The car will go on sale here next summer, priced from around í‚á£130,000. It will be powered by the same 500bhp 5.0-litre V10 as is found in the coup탩.
However, engineers at Lamborghini are preparing a more powerful 5.2 V10 for the hard-topped model, to put it on a level footing with the new Ferrari F430. The uprated engine will produce a hefty 550bhp, and debut in the facelifted Gallardo, which is expected to arrive later in 2006. This car will borrow styling cues from the Concept S, which was unveiled at the Swiss event in March.
