The mag"s spies have caught engineers testing prototypes of the performance range-topper. Although the disguised car is fitted with VXR mechanicals, the bodywork of the production model will be far more extreme. The mag"s images show that the finished product is a sight to behold. Adding a beefy bodykit to Vauxhall"s new supermini, designers have created a fitting understudy to the Astra VXR.

It might look like part of a circus act, but the nose of this prototype reveals its true identity. Take a look at the latest MINI SUV mule.
Following the amazing set of images captured earlier this week of the first 4x4 test car being put through its paces, these pictures show how the BMW owned firm is stepping up the development of its new model.
It’s hard to glean much information from this cleverly cloaked mule, but what is clear is that SUV will ride higher than the regular MINI. It will also get rough-road wheels and tyres.
Expected to be revealed later this year, the SUV has been confirmed for production but bosses are yet to announce a name. The latest indications are that while both Crossman and Monte are said to be in the running, the former is the current favourite. Prices likely to start at around ÷£20,000.
