Swedish firm Autoliv...

Swedish firm Autoliv has unveiled its latest innovation, which it says will prevent injuries in rollover accidents. The device focuses on stopping occupants moving. A key element of the set-up is its reverse seatbelt arrangement. With the new system the strap starts at the inside edge of the front seat, not the door pillar. The buckle is located at the base, near the door, instead of by the handbrake. An airbag on the chair"s inside edge prevents the occupant slipping out of their belt - as can happen at present. A spokesman for Autoliv said: "Our system is simple, but the test results are promising."

Is the next Rolls Royce...

Is the next Rolls Royce just a glorified 7-series? These new spies of the ò€˜babyò€™ Roller indicate that the firmò€™s cars are coming closer than ever to those of its parent company, BMW.

Thatò€™s because for the first time, weò€™ve got a glimpse inside the Ò£175,000 RR4. And despite the heavily disguised dash, the shot reveals one important detail ò€“ a dial that"s very similar to BMWò€™s controversial iDrive system.

Itò€™s already known that the entry-level Rolls will share its underpinnings with the new 7-Series, but until now itò€™s been thought that parts-sharing with the top-end BMW would be kept to a minimum, to give it a bespoke feel.

This latest generation of the iDrive controls navigation, communication and audio systems, as well as allowing drivers to surf the internet whilst on the move. Who knows, it could even operate the carò€™s retractable Spirit of Ecstasy!

The RR4, which will cost around Ò£100,000 less than the Phantom saloon, will touch down in 2010.
