Less is more when it...
Less is more when it comes to paintwork – at least that’s according to Citroen! The firm’s C-Cactus show car features unpainted doors among its raft of clever cost-cutting measures. The bare metal is lacquered to protect it against the elements, saving the cost of buying and applying traditional paint. A spokesman for the French company said the feature could be used on future production cars. And he added that if a model based on the C-Cactus went into production, it would cost around ÷£12,000, because the hybrid diesel/electric powertrain is expensive to produce. But a budget version with a conventional engine may also be offered for around half the price.
Is the Silver Ghost...
Is the Silver Ghost set to rise again? Reports suggest the next Rolls-Royce will wear one of the most famous badges in motoring when itò€™s released next year.
Until now, the baby brother to the Phantom has been codenamed RR4. Set to take on the Bentley Continental GT, the car will be based on Rolls owner BMWò€™s 7-Series, and will arrive in the first half of 2010.
The saloon will be quickly followed by a coupé and convertible, and as well as a choice of V8 or V12 petrol units, there may be a diesel or hybrid version. Nearly 8,000 Silver Ghosts were built during its 20-year production run from 1906, and pristine examples are now rated among the most valuable cars in the world.
