The standard car’s 237bhp 2.2-litre VTEC engine remains, but the special gets a speedier steering rack, stiffer springs and dampers and larger anti-roll bars. It also has wider rear wheels with sports compound tyres, plus an aluminium hard-top. But it’s not clear whether the S2000 CR will come to the UK.

If you thought the last...

If you thought the last Williams formula one to hit the headlines looked good, wait till you catch a glimpse of the new Williams FW31. The British firm has pulled out all the stops to make this the most advanced formula one car they have ever built.

The car looks similar to those cars that have been revealed so far; with a pinocchio styled nose and sharp side-pods.

Williams is one of the first teams to show a race ready wing package.and have decided this year to use a top body air inlet, hydraulics will be cooled by small scoops on the engine cover.

While the Performance figure"s have been kept a closely guarded secret. It is sure to match the performance of last year"s model - which had 740bhp and an astonishing power weight ratio of 1.22 bhp per kg.

With new rules being introduced by the "FIA" for the start of 2009. Groove tyre"s have now been banned and replaced with slicks this is to increase the mechanical rather than aerodynamic grip, the overall effect should reduce performance round high speed corners.

Another big change is Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) which Williams already has a good system developed for this season, it give drivers an extra 6 seconds of boost per lap.
