It seems police in Scotland have nothing better to do than hand out free drinks. A new safety initiative has seen Lothian and Borders officers giving motorists cups of coffee and cans of Red Bull energy drink - to raise awareness of the need to take breaks during long journeys. Assistant chief constable Charles Michie defended the scheme, saying: "Fatigue is a factor in many crashes and we hope this initiative will remind drivers of their responsibilities."

The model gets a big honeycomb air intake, larger bumpers and sculpted side vents. There are also chrome wing mirrors and twin steel tailpipes. Sporty touches inside include a leather gearknob and steering wheel, plus aluminium pedals.
Buyers will get a choice of 158bhp 1.8 TSI and 197bhp 2.0-litre TSI petrol engines ò€“ the latter is sourced from parent firm Volkswagenò€™s Golf GTI. Thereò€™s also a 168bhp 2.0-litre TDI diesel, although top brass at SEAT have yet to reveal any details about prices. P88: WTCC report
