Hammersmith-based greentomatocars has begun a pilot operation in west London which it plans to roll out across the capital by the summer, targetting a fleet of 50 by the end of June.
The brainchild of former City lawyer Tom Pakenham, he claims there has already been a very positive reaction to the trial: "People are fascinated by the Prius. The heads-up display interests them, and the car"s so quiet when it stops at the lights they think it"s stalled!"
Despite the inherent green-ness of its cabs, greentomatocars is also offsetting twice the emissions of its Toyotas through a programme of tree-planting and other eco-projects.
