Featuring the same 3.2-litre...

Featuring the same 3.2-litre straight-six engine as the M3 and Z4 M Roadster, carbon composite brake discs from the M3 CSL and an electronic differential influenced by the company"s F1 involvement, it"s one of the fastest and most driver-focused BMWs ever.

This is emphasised by the deep airdam, large bonnet intakes, wheelarch extensions and diffuser-style rear bumper, complete with quad exhausts. Teamed with the purposeful coupé shape, these give the car an aggressive style.

Performance is equally strong. The engine generates 343bhp at 7,900rpm, launching the Z4 M Coupé from 0-60mph in less than five seconds and propelling it to a 155mph limited top speed. A six-speed manual box is standard. BMW honed the Coupé"s suspension - which has also been borrowed from the M3 - at Germany"s Nürburgring race track. The Coupe"s stiffer body and lower weight let it lap the circuit faster than both the M3 and Z4 M Roadster.

Massive 18-inch brake discs provide the stopping power, while an electronic differential makes the most of the grip from the huge rear tyres. Inside, there are M Sport leather seats and steering wheel, while the dials have red needles. Standard kit includes automatic air-con and xenon headlights.

The car will debut at March"s Geneva Motor Show, and UK sales should start in September. Prices have yet to be finalised, but will be around ÷£42,000.
