Lewis Hamilton will have to wait a little longer to make his grand prix debut, after McLaren confirmed Pedro de la Rosa would line up alongside Kimi Raikkonen this weekend in Brazil. There had been hopes that the promising young Brit would be given his chance in South America, but McLaren is in no hurry to rush its rookie star into the big time. To date, Hamilton has completed only four days of testing behind the wheel of an F1 car. And although he lapped faster than everybody other than Michael Schumacher at Jerez in Spain last week, the team has opted for the proven de la Rosa.

Developed by Renault to conquer Eastern European, Asian and African markets, the vehicle is based on the Logan saloon and estate, and is the third bodystyle to be launched off the platform. Under the bonnet is a choice of 1.5-litre diesel and 1.4 or 1.6-litre petrol engines - all supplied by the French parent company. The little load-lugger will carry 800kg, and should cost around ÷£6,500.
