Colin McRae is returning...

Colin McRae is returning to action on home soil. The former World Rally Champion will make a special guest appearance in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Knockhill in Fife over the weekend of 2-3 September.

It won’t be the first time the Scot has raced a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car this season, as he contested rounds of the international Porsche Supercup at the Nürburgring and Monaco. But he will now compete in the British series on the same bill as the BTCC in what is the biggest weekend of the Scottish motorsport season.

“Racing in the Supercup was a great experience, and it will be good to capitalise on that in the Carrera Cup,” says McRae. “I know Knockhill well, which gives me extra confidence.” McRae, who’s based in Lanark, will be a popular draw for Scottish fans at the BTCC meeting. “I’m sure there‘ll be plenty of local support!” he added.

Meanwhile, the touring car stars are revving up for a dramatic street show in Edinburgh on 31 August. As part of the build-up to Knockhill, many of the big hitters will be doing demonstration runs on a closed section of road near the city’s castle. “This is a great way to signal our arrival in Scotland,” said BTCC boss Alan Gow.
