Called VentureCam, it"s a wireless camera that transmits real-time moving colour pictures back to a dashboard-mounted screen. It can be placed anywhere within 20 metres of the car, and allows the driver to see how close he is to objects.

Citroen is continuing...

Citroen is continuing its push as a seller of fuel-efficient, green cars. The firm is offering to pay the road fund licence on all of its 22 models in the sub-120g/km tax bracket sold during July.

Some C1s, C2s, C3s and C4s are eligible for the offer. Last year, Citroen sold 15 per cent of all the low-CO2 cars which found homes in the UK.

CIRCLING the floors of a multi-storey car park looking for a vacant bay could become a thing of the past thanks to a team of Finnish scientists. They are testing a new system at a facility in Tampere which uses number plate readers and wireless tags to identify a car as it arrives and direct it to a space. Drivers hear personalised spoken directions, and variable message signs point them right to their free spot.

BRITAINS doctors are calling for more 20mph zones to solve a child obesity crisis. The British Medical Association wants speed limits cut to make roads safer for kids to walk to school. “We can’t reduce traffic, but we could lower the speed limit to encourage children to walk more,” said Dr Chris Spencer-Jones, chairman of the BMA’s public health committee. ”It’s a cheap, quick and effective way to tackle childhood obesity.”
