Black-box monitoring devices could be fitted to Barnsley Council"s 450 vehicles, so transport managers in the South Yorkshire town can find out who drives too fast or uses excessive fuel.

Bosses say installing the data recorders would increase safety, reduce environmental damage and save up to ÷£120,000 in fuel bills and vehicle repair costs.
