Comprising material made of extremely thin strands of fabric, carbon fibre is mostly made of carbon atoms, hence the name. A car badge that signifies the driver is a member of one of the UK’s
top road safety organisations is being withdrawn – because it could
be dangerous. The Guild of Experienced Motorists (GEM)
is to stop issuing its famous ‘V’ grille badge, which indicates how many years the driver has been motoring. “Cars are designed to be as injury proof as possible in an accident, and any form of externally mounted badge is bound to destroy the integrity of that design,” said chief executive David Williams. The badge will now be available as a window sticker.
